Star persona video feedback
1) Type up your feedback from your teacher in full+ self assessment/improvement
I had good use of screen text in the beginning of the the video introducing myself and what i will be doing in the video.
The video was well framed ad positioned so you can see my face and what i am doing clearly in the video.
When i was editing i used transitioning wipes which was good as it made the video seem more professional and it was eye catching.
I applied the makeup myself which was difficult but i achieved the look well.
The shots were well trimmed so the video did not get too far over 2 minutes.
However some things i could have improved on are: embedding the video on my blog, i did not do this because i did not know how to.
The type of typography in the introduction could have been better to stand out more and easier for the audience to read.
The lighting was also not good as i filmed it at night and there was no natural lighting.
I should have filmed against a white wall as this would have been more professional and it will appear better in camera.
I filmed the video on my phone so the resolution was not that good, if i filmed on a professional camera the quality of the video would have been better and more clear.
2) Type up the comments you received from other students in the class. You may wish to do this in bullet point and you do not need to repeat comments if more than one student wrote the same thing about your work.
WWW:
- I used good music and it was relevant as it was the joker's song.
- Good editing and transitions
- good makeup and achieved the look
EBI:
- Better backdrop
- Embed the video
- better lighting
My mood board was helpful in gathering ideas of the look i was going to create in terms of colours and style. I could choose which image would be the best and most appropriate for me to create in terms of creativity and ability.
4)Thinking technically, how could you improve your work for future videos? (E.g. filming, editing, sound etc.)
In the future i will use a professional camera to record videos using a tripod to get steady framed shots, this will ensure that the video quality is clear and has a good resolution as well as good lighting. I will also film against a white back drop with lighting facing me.
5) Finally, what have you learned regarding the importance of mise-en-scene to character, narrative and the creation of star personas in film and television?
I have learned that mise-en-scene is important as it says a lot about the characters personality and their role in film and television. Mise-en-scene is also important for the narrative of film as it suggests what the genre and story line might be.
